A day of Comradeship and Community Feeling
This year’s Anchorage Golf Cup was played on the beautiful Bendinat Golf course close to the Anchorage. Thirty-one players, in eight flights, enjoyed sunny weather and tried to master the technically demanding course. Seven of them were guests invited by owners, coming from Antwerpen, DarJord , Berlin, Hamburg , and Viña del Mar in Chile. All handicaps were represented between 11,2 and 36.
After five hours of competitive golf, but also a lot of laughing and swearing, the winner was Béatrice Bouquet (Hp 25) with 45 Stableford points.
Runner up was Uli Göhring, also with 45 points, but with a higher handicap (30,8).
Third place was won by Anne-Marie Mantray (Hp 17,9) with 39 points.
The category Scratch was won by Richard Nelson (Hp 15) with 22 points and Béatrice Bouquet as second with 20 points.
Nearest to the Pin was won by Anne-Marie Mantray (Hp 17,9), Men’s Longest Drive by JensHeitman (Hp 24) and Ladie’s Longest Drive by Martine Raemaekers (Hp 13,9 – guest).
The Guest Category were won by Ulf von Borck (Hp 36) with 36 points, Jean-Pierre Raemaekers (Hp 28) was second with 31 points and Yvonne Bartlet (Hp 18,6) third with 30 points.
The final highlight of this Anchorage sport event, which once again brought golfers from seven different nationalities together, was the evening ‘After Party’ with about 40 people in attendance. Held in the Anchorage Club Room the evening included the presentation of prizes, a buffet dinner, a tombola presented by Sabine Manchot and Karen Kassulat. Music was supplied by Sandra on Spanish guitar for the quiet moments and Victoria Miles for the dancing part.
On behalf of all players, I think I can say: ‘It was a memorable day that annually contributes to the social life of the Anchorage. And to remind everyone, that even if you don’t golf, anyone can come to the dinner and after party’. I thank Alejandro and Eva from the Anchorage Office, as well as their team, for their support in organizing this event. In addition, my thanks go to Sabine, Udo and Karen for their encouragement and helping hands over the years.
