22 Jul: Against the heat, try sorbets

In the middle of May we were suddenly catapulted into high summer temperatures and many of us didn’t like it very much. Trying to keep cool was the number one priority for some people. I found a nice refreshing spot right in the centre of town that was completely free of charge: at the top of La Rambla where the fountain is.

Lavender, apart from looking great in the garden, is an incredibly versatile herb for cooking. Fresh edible flowers have made a bit of a comeback recently as enhancements to both the flavour and the appearance of food in restaurants.

While the real Queen (two of them) plus Adam Lambert played at the Platinum Jubilee and are still a working band, Queen tribute acts are performing sold-out concerts around the globe.


08 Jul: bikinis and tourist taxes

Bikini is the title of a short comedy film that was made in 2014 about a famous meeting between Franco and the mayor of Benidorm, Pedro Zaragoza. It was famous because the mayor went to see Franco in order to plead the case for allowing women (foreign tourist women) to wear bikinis.
